The 11-year-old boy who Russell Peters made fun of at The Junos was so embarrassed, he didn't even want to go to school yesterday according to family members!!
Family members contacted Isthishappening.com and said,
"He was so embarrassed by [Russell Peters] comments last night that he was afraid kids at school would make fun of him and call him 'gay'... We hope Russell will do the right thing and apologize. Picking on a young kid is nothing to be proud of."
Russell had asked the boy his age and if he was into girls... The kid said NO, and Russell said, "Hey Calgary... Speaking about FLAMES..."
The audience laughed and the boy looked as if he was goin' to cry... He had no idea what Russell meant!! An Isthishappening.com source who was in the VIP section told us, "They asked him if he was okay and one person rubbed him on the back and said, "you did good." He didn't seem thrilled."
I hope Russell sees this and like the family says, DOES THE RIGHT THING!!

HE BETTER SAY SORRY OR I AM NEVER SUPPORTING HIM AGAIN
WUT A DICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its sad that still people get made fun for being gay. the kid probably isnt but it shows that its still a negative comment because he didnt want to go to school the next day.. that sucks.. Yay to Be Gay!!

Just for the record, Russell apologized right after the show on E-Talk and then on the radio in Calgary the following afternoon.

also for the record, i wrote the show (Trevor Boris) - am a good friend of Russell's, and i am gay. What happened was that he was asked to stretch for an extra minute, and what happened wasn't planned.. he had made a 'flamer' comment with the first guy, and then i dont think he was expecting the kid to actually say he didnt like girls.. as a comic it was natural to 'call back' to the flamer joke. no harm was meant and he did feel bad about it after. it wasnt scripted and was an 'in the moment' thing.

Would the crowd have been laughing if the child was in a wheelchair and this "comic" (and I use that term lightly) had called him a cripple and made fun of his inability to walk? What if the child had down syndrome or some other mental disability? Would it have been amusing to watch him be called a "retard" or some other humiliating term? Why is it ok for this "public figure" to solely base his decision on whether a pre-pubescent boy is gay because he has a high voice (typical for young boys) and because he "doesn't like girls". Well, what boy when thrust in the spotlight is going to admit girls are ok at that age.
While an impersonal apology on the radio is nice, it isn't enough. Public figures have a responsibility to curtail this kind of behaviour and such inflammatory remarks. Especially when a child in involved. It makes absolutely no difference whether Mr Peters has nothing against gays himself. What he has done is put a child in danger from people who do have a problem with gays. If a month from now this child is swarmed and injured because of Russell's comments, how sorry will he be then?
He was dangerously irresponsible! In a culture where videos of children swarming are interesting net fodder and where fear and paranoia of anyone different is at an all time high, to abuse and humiliate a child on national TV, by an adult, is completely unacceptable. What was done here, is practically criminal.
This really has nothing to do with whether the child is gay or not. It's just not ok to endanger or emotionally damage a child like this. This is akin to bullying and all I can say is for shame Mr. Peters! You should have known better!

You goto a comedy show to hear jokes. He's a known comedian...so don't be surprised. He makes jokes about everyone and even himself. You going to call him racist because he makes fun of his own heritage???? Don't take an 11 year old kid to adult show, go see the Wiggles instead. Grow up people!!!

First of all, Sheri...go f%&$ yourself, and get a life. A comedians job is to make fun of the world and the people in it/they make us laugh (OHHH no lets kill them all) And Mr. Peters does this in a way, which, not only breaks stereotypes, but encourages us not to see a difference in another and enjoy it, not to destroy it or be scared of it. (Do your homework) Kids are going to get picked on all there lives, with, or without the help of Mr. Peters. So shame on you for being so narrow minded. Let me guess, you got your ass kicked when you where kid. And now anyone who reminds you of those times should pay!!! That kid was lucky enough to have gotten picked on by a celebrity at the Juno's, then some punk ass loser in his school, which eventually would have happened. SUCH IS LIFE. DEAL with IT!!!! RP Rocks!!!!!
